Dire Wolf (better AC/move spd, slightly more HP, and chance to prone on attack + natural pack tactics) Giant Rocktopus (wayy more HP, restrain on grapple) and Moorbounder (EGW) (70ft movespd, 4d4+4 damage (ALL the d4s!!!) are arguably better forms than the Bear.

You can use the lvl 3 spell tiny servant to create tiny constructs that can use the spell storing item that you create at lvl 11 to target your allies with whatever concentration spell that you want, since you are activating an item and not using a spell its doable by raw, you just need to have a bag of holding at this point to make the tiny robots hide in there and not risk losing concentration

Okay. Came back to this build because i love jackie chan. 1) probably go that 6th level of monk 2) Also shore up that action surge so fighter 2 before going Ranger. 3) go Ranger 4 before Fighter 3 to get Alert - need to go first and having +4 dex + 3 Wis + Alert does that. 4) Canny for Perception - youre likely to go first in initiative, dont mess it up by not seeing your enemies and giving them surprise. Thats my changes up 12. Dont usually go beyond that so the rest is extra.

This made me think of what Azaar Kul, the antagonist from the Red Hand of Doom, would look like. Maybe you can use you skills to create BBEGs from old and new adventures and allow DMs to wreak havoc on parties everywhere

Now that you've done a baseline, I'd love to see a theoretical maximum where you break a few rules to see how much sustained damage could possibly be done if there weren't so many pesky rules constraining you so that you can see how close to "definitely gamebreaking" your builds are. Specifically, how much damage could you do if you could cherry pick the abilities of any class/sub-classes at each level without needing to take the previous levels in that class unless the ability builds off of the ability gained in a previous level? This means that you pick your first level class as normal, then at 2nd level you can choose the first or second level abilities from any class. And to make things even more gamebreaking, lets pretend that you can choose your spellcasting ability between intelligence, wisdom and charisma and all magical abilities use the spellcasting ability you choose regardless of class.

Huh. When I saw the limitations for this build my gut instinct was that the low level version would have been a Barbarian/Rogue mix. Can Sneak Attack with Str as long as the weapon is Finesse, so after level 5 switch to Rogue and get those Sneak Attacks in there. Can still use two weapons to attack even if you don't have Two Weapon Fighting so you can at least give yourself 3 chances to land that Sneak Attack with advantage.

This actually ended up being my exact party comp on my current play-through. I love all of these builds so much. Wyll as a bard is so thematic. Karlach thrower build is so much fun and shadowheart as a tempest cleric is just *chefs kiss 🤌🏼

Personally I’d drop the level in cleric. The concentration slot can be used by blur which artificers pick up at level 5. Not to mention you can put it in your spell storing item at meter levels. Imposing disadvantage on top of the high AC. And you’d get another ASI at max level.

Bladesllnger seems powerful, but it's just a crap martial class, and a less good spellcaster class as a result. Just take war wizard, for those sweet +4 to saves and take a 1 level cleric dip for plate armour, shield and bless. +1d4+4 to saves and effective 25 AC at level 3. Take a Vedalkin, and you'll also roll your mental saves with advantage. You'll be tanky as hell while still slinging fireballs.... At level 5 take resilient CON, end up with effective saves as follows: STR+3+1d4, DEX+4+1d4, CON+10+1d4, then CHA+3+1d4 with advantage, INT+11+1d4 with advantage, and WIS+9+1d4 with advantage. You dangerous WIS saves average PLUS SIXTEEN.....

Claiming the Alchemist is underpowered compared to the other subclasses seems reasonable... until you hit lvl 10. Then you make the evocation wizard look like your bitch.

Have you seen the_twig's resource-less build? If I remember right its an elf rouge that takes ritual caster. Gets up to 200+ damage per round at 20.

Hexblqde haters just use crusher at level 1 and go Effreti Warlock. Spike growth might even do more damage with all the knock back that would deliver.

Oh man, it's so hard for me to not play some sort of Barbarian combo because I just love the flavor text - but I think this build is *very* tempting! Very fun!

18:00 Bugbears extra reach only applies to attacks on their turn, not to opportunity attacks. It's a weird rule, and probably only made to stop overpowering combos like this.

I won’t say giving magic knuckles is cheating - if any other weapon users can have magic weapons with elemental damage and other cool effect, then unarmed martials is at massive disadvantage if they can’t utilise anything subsidiary

If you play with only three player characters, this character is a nice option to give to the players as an extra body outside of sidekicks. Easy to use!

Maybe tables that can't read would let you add extra damage to spirit shroud every turn. Spirit Shroud doesn't deal damage, it causes your attacks to deal extra damage and therefore wouldn't even add damage once, but even if you house rule that it counts, it would only add damage the first time because Elemental Affinity only activates when the spell is cast.

It'd be interesting to see random classes/subclasses picked either by comments or a random generator and see how you'd mould them into a capable build. Might even learn a few new things in your discoveries!

Bard + Sorc bring a lot of utility with the bard skills and such and the flex of the Sorc spell list, you got a lot of Crowd control and just AOE bang..
